Hello from Greece!
« u: 11 Svibnja 2009, 19:24:36 »
Hello to everyone. My name is John, i am 30 years old, i am from Greece and i ride a Yamaha TDM900. Also, i am a member of the greek TDM club.

I find it a little difficult to understand what the topics are about, because i am not familliar with the croatian language, so please forgive me for writing in English.

I will visit Dubrovnik with my motorbike and my girlfriend Melina the second week of June, so i tried to find out if there is any motorbike interest in the area i am going to visit, and i found this forum. I read about the Vukovar ride that you do, too late for me unfortunately, and i would like next year to join you to this, if -of course- i am accepted.

We will cross upwards Albania, Montenegro and we will come to Dubrovnik for a week. I want to see this beautyful city, and also visit the Krka National Park, if i can, one of our days there.

Any information that i might find interesting (what to see, what to do, what to be careful of, where to go, where to eat etc...) to my visit there, is welcome.

Thank you in advance, friends!

Thank you all for the warm welcoming!

Bajac, you were in meteora? i hope you liked it there, peaceful, isn't it?

Srdan, and everyone else, of course you can count on me when you come to Greece! I am living (until July) in northern Greece, in Kavala.

I saw that there is a Riders Cafe, how can i find it with my gps? (Dest)

Take care, everyone! See you in Dubrovnik!

Hi and welcome!

There was a bunch of us from this forum in Meteora about a month ago:
http://www.du-moto.com/forum/index.php?topic=5262.0

We divided up there, and part of the group went back to Ohrid, and the other part stayed in Meteora one more night and went back home directly.

I don't know if you have already been through Albania, and which route you will take, but we took the shortest way.
We went to Ioannina, and then entered into Albania at the Kakavia border crossing (great roads in Greece!  ).
From there the road is more or less in good condition (some parts are excellent) up to Tepelene, but then there is some 75-80 km of really bad road up to the city of Fier.
After that the road is again more or less in good condition. You can also expect heavy traffic in some of the cities you will be passing through (especially around Durres)due to road work.

You should definitely see Krka National park, and depending on the time you will have Plitvice National park would be worth seeing as well. It's about 180km north of NP Krka:

p.s.
If you have a GPS, don't rely on it 100% while driving through Albania. A good road map is much better   ;)

Hi, Pit. Welcome!  :good2:

I must agree with Fjaka!
Plitvice is a "must see" location. My pick over Krka on any given day...especially if You have limited time and need to choose ONE.

Take care, and have fun in DU. It's a pearl..... true pearl...
And CRO ... obviously a pearl necklace. (w/  humble people and all ....    )
